We now have the door up that leads out onto our back porch. We are having three sets of french doors made and will pick them up on tuesday. Once they are installed we are going to start on the inside. Here is a picture of the door. The carpet will not be left as it appears in the picture.

The walls are all up
Actually we finished the walls last week. I have been sick so I didnt post when we finished sorry. Now we are working on the exterior trim. Then we will have to paint it all. Fall is such a wonderful time of year here. Its not too hot and not too cold. Perfect weather for building. Addy thinks its perfect weather for building large piles of leaves to jump into. I will leave you with some photos of the yurt and Addy.
The walls all up yay!

The newest member of the family
We went Saturday to the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair. It was amazing seeing all the different techniques to spin fiber. Everywhere you looked there was beautiful art work. Its something we will start going to every year. They also sold Alpacas, Llamas, and Angora rabbits. We fell in love with a English Angora bunny. Addy named her Shyanne at first and then changed it to JumpRope.

We are back and the roof is finished!!
I know some of you have been wondering where we have been . Maybe you wondered if this blog was finished. We are back and its not finished! Summer time is a super busy time for us. We are outdoors people and can not stay home in the summer. We spent most of the summer at the beach, the lake and the river. We also worked on the roof. I am going to be honest here; building a octagon roof is harder and more complex than a regular roof. That said it didnt take a few months to build. We were just simply enjoying the summer. I am sorry for not keeping everyone posted but we were hardly here. Now its fall and we tend to stay home more. So posts should start coming more frequently. Now that the roof is completely finished we will now start the walls, I promise:) Enjoy some more photos.

Roof is almost done
The roof is almost complete. It has taken a bit of time because each piece has to be cut by us to fit. Add that to the fact that it has been close to 100 degrees everyday, its amazing that we did it all. A big thanks to Chris's dad who is a huge help in the building process. After the roof is done the walls will be going up. I will write more and add more pictures once its finished. I had to give you a little something to hold you over and here it is:

The Rafters are up and a gift from eno......:)
A lot has happen in this past week. For those of you who are just interested in learning how we build our yurt I will get straight to that and jump to the rest further down. The rafters were finished this week. Now we are ready to lay down the roofing. Roofing will be ordered tomorrow; we will be going with an aluminum roof. Here are the pictures...dont forget to scroll down if your interested in our lifes:)

To fully understand the story I am about to tell you need to know a little background. One year ago this past Thursday I lost my baby brother. He was my husbands best friend and gift to know. One of those people who was always smiling and happy; what we need more of in life. Chris and I took him many years ago on his first camping trip. He loved the water and nature so this Thursday it only seemed right to be at the lake. We left Wednesday around noon. When we got to the lake we set off to camp across the water. Half way there the boat quit. It turned out the part we got didnt work fully and we were stuck. Then it started to rain a little bit...was my brother tellin us something??? After Chris got us back by rowing, we decide to try a store up from the lake to see if they had the part. We were all kind of depressed and wondering what was going on... When we got to the store we saw a guy wearing a eno hat which stands for eagle nest outfitters. We have been wanting their hammocks for a long time. Chris was going in the store and the guy asked if he wanted a sticker. Of course he said yes!!! They got to talking and it turned out he was the OWNER of the company. He gave us a double nest hammock, pro straps, and rain fly. (Plus some really cool stickers) He most likely will never know how much that made our day.In fact they are our screen saver! It felt like a true gift from my brother. For those of you interested in there products which are amazing and perfect for backpacking go to http://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/ here are many pictures of our trip:
